Nigel’s reputation as a leading Executive Coach and Leadership facilitator has been built upon 30 years of experience of working and living all over the world.
Nigel coaches, mentors and trains leaders globally, and he heads The Silk Road School of Leadership, which is the leadership development arm of The Silk Road Partnership.
He coaches senior talent to optimise and to enhance their leadership effectiveness. This may include coaching for individuals and their teams when embarking on a more senior role or undertaking strategic changes and challenges, including increased role complexity and expectations. He is also highly experienced at supporting international transitions into new geographies and new cultures.
Nigel is an extensively qualified executive coach and leadership training professional. He is a Master Accredited Coach and Mentor with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), was a Founding Fellow of the Harvard affiliated Institute of Coaching and is a certified Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coach.
He is a leading coaching and mentoring practitioner, coaching supervisor and an international exponent in executive coaching, most notably with EMCC. He has led the creation of an industry-wide Global Code of Ethics for Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors.
He regularly takes leadership teams on retreats and off-sites to help them align, collaborate, strategise and excel. He also helps some corporates with their leadership development programs across EMEA and Asia.
He is regarded as a thought leader and often speaks at conferences and events and is the author of a large number of self-help and leadership books.
Previous Experience
Nigel’s coaching experience is built upon two decades of working in senior leadership roles with global corporates across Asia, Europe and South America. He started his expatriate career in Chile with Coats plc (then known as Coats Viyella plc and a UK FTSE100 company). His various roles with Coats included being the Finance Director for Eastern Europe based out of Budapest before taking on a final role as the Finance Director for Greater China-based out of Hong Kong. In these roles Nigel became experienced in developing and rolling out strategies, opening new plants and entering into new markets. He honed his leadership skills across many different cultures and environments.
Subsequently, he has also held senior-level positions with various other multinationals, including with the world’s largest staffing group, Adecco SA as well as with Dalgety plc and Harvey Nash plc. He then became an entrepreneur by setting up his own recruitment company in Hong Kong and China which was sold to the UK’s largest recruitment group, Hays plc, in mid-2006. Since 2007 Nigel has been working as an Executive Coach, Mentor and Leadership trainer.

Interests
Nigel enjoys travelling all over the world and is very active in the voluntary sector having helped run various charities and foundations such as the UK educational charity United World Schools. He has also sat on the boards of various organisations including of some of Tech start-ups and leading international schools in Asia. He is a Freeman of the City of London.
